Still waiting...

Well, for all those who didn't know, I am still in Calgary.  There were issues with my work visa, or z-visa as it is called.  I was a little bummed about it for a while, but it does give me more time to spend with friends and family before I head to the other side of the world, so I can be thankful for that.  Good news today: the missing documents that were holding up my visa application arrived from China.  A letter of invitation from my school, and permission to apply for the visa from the Chinese government.  I need to send these to Vancouver to complete my application, and I'll finally be good to go.  My new flight date is Sept. 3rd.  I'm sure it will come faster than I think.  I am learning a lot about what it takes just to travel...

On another note, I was contacted today by another overseas agency, this one for the UK.  I had to turn down an interview.  I guess I may actually be good at what I do, maybe...

In any case, there is the updated situation I find myself in.  I hope all is well with you readers, and thanks for following along :)

The Beginning

Well, here I am, sitting in my mom's living room, the smell of tasty breakfast wafting to my nose.  I have decided to create this blog to document my upcoming trip to China.  Social media may be unreliable in China, so this will serve to keep my friends and family updated on how things are going.  Please feel free to follow this blog, to post comments, and follow along with my teaching adventure.  I will be posting details of my trip, along with general thoughts on anything that strikes me.  I will try to update this regularly.
